Welcome to the Dewberry Disaster Cadre website where we endeavor to create a sense of community for our part-time and intermittent work force that is involved with Dewberry’s various disaster preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation contracts.

Dewberry is a 2,000 person professional services firm operating nationally. The firm maintains 40 offices and provides services in program management, planning, engineering, architecture, surveying, geographic information systems, and all of the environmental sciences. Dewberry’s Emergency Management, Disaster and Mitigation Services Division is part of our Management & Consulting Services Operating Unit and provides expert disaster preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation consulting services to federal, state, local and private clients nationwide. Since the early 1980’s, Dewberry has provided technical assistance to FEMA’s Public Assistance Program, responding to more than 350 disasters in 49 states and all US Territories. Similar expertise has been provided to FEMA’s Housing Inspection, Individual Assistance, and Mitigation Programs.

Dewberry provides FEMA with a range of technical, financial and management services including assessment of infrastructure damage, engineering evaluations, cost estimating, environmental and historic compliance support, development of mitigation solutions, community recovery planning and project monitoring/close out. Additional services include catastrophic event planning, evacuation studies and community shelter analysis and development.

In anticipation of a robust disaster season in 2010, Dewberry is looking to supplement our part- time cadre with professionals experienced in the following disciplines: civil-structural-mechanical-electrical-water resource-earthquake-geotechnical engineering, architecture, building envelope and coding, historic architecture, cultural resource, construction management, cost estimating, planning, and environmental/historic compliance. The hiring process is straightforward and consists of the following steps:

  1. Submit a resume and completed Dewberry application.
  2. Resumes/applications are reviewed, interviews conducted and references checked.
  3. Candidates who match our needs are offered conditional employment and added to the Dewberry cadre in an inactive status.
  4. Depending upon contract needs, candidates are selected for assignment, switched to an active Dewberry employee status, and mobilized on an assignment.
  5. Staff complete their assignment and demobilize, switching back to inactive Dewberry employee status until next assignment.
